Sarvana Bhavan (Chennai)

Anyone who has ever been to Chennai, would have seen at least one Sarvana Bhavan. It’s pretty famous chain of speciality resturant and Chennai has at least one “Sarvana Bhavan” in every area ;) . Ever since we shifted here, we wanted to try it out but for some or the other reason it kept getting delayed. Never mind…better late than never :) . Fianlly …after a couple of weeks …we got chance to visit “Sarvana Bhavan” @ T.Nagar (Venkatanarayan Rd) on a Saturday for lunch and liked it so much that we went there again on Sunday also :P (Yeah…another reason is that it’s pretty close to our house and economical option ;) ) … and in very short time it became our one of the favourite weekend eat-out place in Chennai ;)

The food is just amazing … specially all the South Indian dishes made with Ghee.  Just so ‘Yumm’. Both of us love their “Ghee Dosai”. We were surprised that even their North Indian dishes like “Punjabi Sheekh Kabab” was also equally dilicious. Don’t miss on trying “14 ghee idly sambhar” and “Tometo Shorba” if you ever visit the place. I won’t say that thier menu is really elabrote but it definetly has enough varities from different parts of  India. Not many options in terms of deserts though. The quality and quantity of the food is generally good.

Finding a place to sit is not a problem, except on weekends. The staff is kind and co-operative. Looks like they remember their regular customers well and pay special attention! :) The services are fast enough on an average day(again.. except on weekends .. when there is too much rush). However, we have noticed a delay while ordering tandoori special stuff e.g. Kebabs etc. The interior is not decent. Noting very decorative or loud. Which, we think, is better than a mess in name of  “designer interior”. Haven’t noticed the music much, since the place is mostly filled with noise of ‘chit-chating’ people around. ;)

It’s a nice ‘friends & family’ kind of place. If you are looking for some fancy place to impress someone…this is not your kind. It is a simple and modest reasurant where you can enjoy good quality pure vegetarian food without worrying about the bill all the time. ;)
